Biles was raised at home in Spring Texas, in the Houston metropolitan area. Biles and her sister Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie Biles. Simone was introduced to the sport of gymnastics through her daycare instructor Aimee Borman, when she was six years old. She was a student at Bannon's Gymnastix for eleven years. Biles has won gold and bronze medals at the women's Junior Olympic National Championships 2010 on the floor and vault before her debut in 2011 in the elite section of the competition. In just two short years, she had become the best in her sport. Biles was distinguished by her consistent performance, exuberant persona, and the difficult routines she performed across each of the four events such as vault, uneven bars and the balance beam.
